![]() ![]() On the front it appears that the entire hub is replaced and removing the old hubs requires a special tool (18G 363). Will it just slide off of the axle shaft? It doesn't really describe how to separate the hub extension from the axle shaft. The manual indicates that on the rear (banjo axle) you remove the axle shaft with the hub extension. On the rear (banjo axle), it appears that the entire hubs would not need to be replaced, just the hub extensions, right? The only reference I found for removing the hub extensions were in the section on Removing and Replacing a Brake-Drum and Axle Shaft. Of course, for what new hubs cost I could almost buy 2 more wheels!Īnyway, I've been looking at the instructions in the Bentley workshop manual for removing the hubs. My splines look pretty good to me, but I'd hate to screw up a new set of wheels. Just getting ready to order new wire wheels and seriously contemplating going all out and replacing the hubs, just to be safe. ![]()
